On March 19, the Min-On Concert Association organized a special event in honor of the Republic of Uzbekistan’s Navruz, one of most important celebrations of the spring equinox in central Asia.
The event—which was held at the Min-On’s Museum Hall in Tokyo and drew some 200 concertgoers for the day and evening performances—was conducted with the cooperation of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Japan and the joint venture, Modern Art.
His Excellency Mukhsinkhuja Abdurakhmonov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Japan, attended the evening concert. In his address, Ambassador Abdurakhmonov expressed his desire to raise the Uzbekistan-Japan partnership to new heights and further strengthen bilateral relations.
Both concerts were moderated by Akhmedov Amrullo Abdullaevich and Khamroeva Mukhabbat Atoevna, introducing Uzbek culture and musical instruments such as the percussion doira and stringed tar to the Japanese audience, as well as featuring traditional folkloric dances. For the finale, two songs—“Lazgi” and “Navruz”—were performed.
This Min-On effort to promote culture exchange and community outreach initiatives are made possible through the contributions of its members and donors.
