On September 25, the Min-On Concert Association held its “FUTURE OF ASIA” concert at the Bunkyo Civic Hall in Tokyo. The event, which featured Japanese and Thai musicians, drew ambassadors and embassy officials of diplomatic missions from 24 countries and territories based in Japan.

Representing Japan was AUN & HIDE, a unit comprised of Ryohei and Kohei Inoue and HIDE, all three of whom perform traditional Japanese musical instruments. Meanwhile, Aoy, the main vocalist of popular fusion band ASIA7, and folk instrument player Ton, represented Thailand.

They played various instruments—from the Japanese taiko drum, shamisen and shinobue bamboo flute to the Thai phin, a three-string folk instrument, and the bamboo mouth organ khaen—and performed various folk songs and pop scores.
