On March 2, the La Juan D’arienzo Orchestra of Argentina kicked off its tour of Taiwan, a series of concerts held under the auspics of the Min-On Concert Association that concluded on March 16 in Taipei. The nine venues included a performance held at a school at no charge to the concertgoing students.

La Juan D’arienzo Orchestra ranks among Argentina’s premier tango groups. The Orchestra—which Min-On originally invited to tour Japan in 2021, but was cancelled due to the covid pandemic—had performed 21 concerts at 19 venues in 18 cities across Japan from January 22 to February 21.

Following the concert held at the city of Tainan, Director Hsiu-cheng Chen of Tainan City’s Cultural Affairs Bureau hailed the tango performance, saying that it inspired hope as people strove to recover from the pandemic.
