The acapella group Rajaton of Finland concluded its eight-venue, four-city tour of Taiwan, which took place in the month of April held under the auspices of the Min-On Concert Association.
Founded in 1997, Rajaton is named after the Finnish word meaning “boundless,” reflecting its broad scope of repertoire ranging from classical music to modern pop. The group previously toured Japan in 2019 and 2023 at Min-On’s invitation.
Rajaton opened its Taiwan tour with a sold-out concert at the Kaohsiung Cultural Center on the evening of April 14, enthralling an audience of over 1,600 and some 70 dignitaries. Among the songs the group performed was “The Dull Ice Flower,” the theme song from a popular local movie, and sang as the finale, “Finlandia,” known as the country’s second national anthem.
On April 16, Rajaton opened the first of three concerts in Taiwan’s capital at the Taipei Performing Arts Center. On that occasion, more than 1,500 people attended and drew another 70 dignitaries. One of the presenters of the performance was Dr. Tang Yen-po, rector of St. John’s University, who shared that he visited Min-On in Tokyo three times, and expressed gratitude to the association for bringing the world’s top artists to Taiwan.
The acapella group later performed at the Miaobei Art Center and gave two concerts at the Yuanlin Performance Hall.
Rajaton’s Taiwan tour was the latest among Min-On’s numerous outreach initiatives made possible through the association’s supporting members.
