On June 30, world-renowned conductor Dr. Francisco de Gálves and his wife, Celia Pedrajas, visited the Min-On Concert Association. They were welcomed by Min-On President Koji Yamaguchi.

The Spanish-born conductor shared episodes from the 10th Tokyo International Music Competition for Conducting, which he won first place in 1994, as well as memories from his 1995 debut concert held at the Fukuoka Sunpalace, Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre and The Symphony Hall in Osaka.

He explained that those occasions were truly life-altering and said he looked forward to fostering young musicians going forward. The competition was renamed the Tokyo International Competition for Conducting in 2024.
