On July 10, 2026, Mr. Gabriel Deng, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Republic of South Sudan in Japan, visited the Min-On Cultural Center, where he was welcomed by Min-On President Koji Yamaguchi.

During the meeting, Mr. Deng spoke about the central role that singing, drumming, and dance play in the daily lives of the people of South Sudan, noting that music is an essential means of communication as well as a vital expression of the country’s cultural identity. He emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting musical traditions and expressed his hope for closer cooperation with Min-On to introduce the rich culture of South Sudan to a wider audience in Japan.

Following the meeting, Mr. Deng toured the World Musical Instruments for Children Exhibition and the Classical Piano Room at the Min-On Music Museum. Reflecting on the visit, he remarked that he was deeply impressed by the rich tones of the historic harpsichords and pianos, which conveyed a profound sense of musical history.
