On February 1, Argentine tango group La Juan D’arienzo Orchestra kicked off their tour of Japan at the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan. Envoys and embassy officials from 18 countries and territories, including Acting Ambassador Cesar Rodolfo Campoy of the Argentine Republic, gathered to catch the group’s opening-night performance.

In addition to performing a number of dances from the group’s repertoire as well as traditional tango favorites, the La Juan D’arienzo Orchestra unveiled “Mirlo” (“Blackbird”), an original score star group leader Facundo Lázzari dedicated to Min-On Concert Association founder Daisaku Ikeda.

La Juan D’arienzo Orchestra will perform 21 concerts at 19 venues in 18 cities nationwide from January 22 to February 21.

Min-On launched its Tango Series in 1970; the latest marks the 52nd of its kind in the series.
