In January 2026, Min-On Concert Association brought the vibrant sounds of Argentine tango into school gymnasiums, holding two educational concerts in Tokyo and Kanagawa featuring the ensemble Pablo Valle Sexteto. Approximately 700 students attended.
The concerts were held on January 22 at an elementary school in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, and on January 23 at a junior high school in Adachi Ward, Tokyo. The ensemble is currently touring Japan as part of the Min-On Tango Series Vol. 55 “Pablo Valle Sexteto” Japan Tour.
The program featured the six-member sextet alongside vocalist Rodrigo Morel and six tango dancers, offering students an opportunity to experience Argentine tango in its authentic, live form. Between musical selections, Pablo Valle addressed the audience with friendly, easy-to-follow remarks, introducing Argentine culture and the expressive appeal of tango.
The repertoire ranged from the group’s original composition Samurai to internationally beloved tango classics such as Libertango and Balada para un Loco. Each piece was met with enthusiastic cries of “Bravo!” and sustained applause, filling the gymnasiums with excitement.
A highlight of the program came during a special dance workshop led by dancer Gaspar, in which selected students were invited onstage to learn basic tango steps. Later, when Anpanman’s March was performed on the bandoneon, the entire venue joined in song, creating a joyful shared musical moment.
Through its school concert program, Min-On continues to introduce children to the richness of world music, fostering cultural curiosity and firsthand artistic experience beyond the classroom.
