To commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Cabo Verde—an island nation off the west coast of Africa—Min-On invited renowned Cabo Verdean vocalist Elida Almeida and her band, marking the first-ever cultural exchange with the country.
— November 18, 6:30 p.m., Matsudo City
From November 5 to 18, she performed in eight cities across Japan, drawing enthusiastic audiences at every venue.

Recognized as a leading figure in contemporary African pop, Almeida blends modern sensibilities with traditional Cabo Verdean genres such as morna. Her rhythmic original songs brought audiences to their feet, filling each hall with excitement.
During “SaikoDayo,” a song inspired by exchanges between Cabo Verdean locals and Japanese fishermen who called at Mindelo in the 1960s, the energy peaked as the audience joined her in call-and-response.
In contrast, her performance of “Nta Konsigui”—a piece she wrote at age seventeen about hope and perseverance—moved listeners with its transparent, heartfelt vocals.
For the encore, she presented a Japanese song performed in both Japanese and her native language, specially prepared for this tour.
— November 5, 6:30 p.m., Nagoya City
Audience members shared impressions such as:
“Her radiant smile left a deep impression. The richness of the sound and her voice far exceeded expectations. I felt drawn into her world, and Cabo Verde suddenly felt much closer.”
After the performances, Almeida expressed her gratitude:
“I am thankful that Japanese audiences embraced the culture and music of my home country. Your warm applause and cheers supported me and made every stage joyful. This Japan tour was a major challenge for me, but thanks to everyone, I overcame my anxieties and discovered new possibilities within myself. I truly hope to return to Japan and see you all again.”

Min-On extends its heartfelt appreciation to the sustaining members, partners, and many attendees who contributed to the success of this tour.
