{"id":951,"date":"2011-12-12T15:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-12-12T15:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/min-on.matthewbyrt.com\/ko\/blog\/2011\/12\/12\/benny-goodman-orchestra-swings-into-town\/"},"modified":"2011-12-12T15:00:00","modified_gmt":"2011-12-12T15:00:00","slug":"benny-goodman-orchestra-swings-into-town","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.min-on.org\/ko\/951\/benny-goodman-orchestra-swings-into-town\/","title":{"rendered":"Benny Goodman Orchestra Swings Into Town"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"side-images-video caption\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-950\" src=\"https:\/\/www.min-on.org\/ko\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2011\/12\/benny-goodman-orchestra.jpg\" width=\"270\" height=\"179\" alt=\"Benny Goodman Orchestra\" \/><span>Benny Goodman Orchestra performs in Tokyo<\/span><\/div>\n<p><strong>The \u201cKing of Swing\u201d Benny Goodman<\/strong> and his orchestra was one of the most popular musical groups in America during the Swing Era that began in the mid-1930s, and helped secure a new place for jazz as \u201cAmerica\u2019s classical music\u201d on the American cultural scene.<\/p>\n<p>Ken Peplowski, an alumnus of the Benny Goodman Orchestra, has been directing the legendary big band for occasional tours around the world, and now under the auspices of the Min-On Concert Association, they performed a thirteen-city <em>Swing Jazz<\/em> concert tour around the Kanto metropolitan area in Japan from September 23 through October 9, 2011.<\/p>\n<p>The concert featured their iconic swing performances of <em>Sing, Sing, Sing<\/em>, <em>Let\u2019s Dance<\/em> and <em>Don\u2019t Be That Way<\/em> among many others, and accompanied by a guest singer and pianist Carol Welsman, they played a number of timeless jazz classics.
