Chichester Bell et d\u2019autres inventeurs suivirent les traces d\u2019Edison, en apportant diverses am\u00e9liorations au phonographe. Ils r\u00e9ussirent \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper une meilleure qualit\u00e9 de son en enduisant de cire une bande \u00e9paisse de papier cylindrique en vue de cr\u00e9er un disque phonographique.  En 1887, l\u2019inventeur am\u00e9ricain Emile Berliner, d\u2019origine allemande, introduisit les sillons en spirale sur un disque plat en rotation.  Il appela cette invention le gramophone.  <\/p>\n<p>Ce mod\u00e8le C-19 \u00ab Chippendale \u00bb du Laboratoire Edison Officiel, fut con\u00e7u pour \u00eatre le nec plus ultra des gramophones destin\u00e9s aux disques \u00e0 vibration longitudinale.
