Ambassadors Attended the Tokyo Performance of “The Caribbean Musical Cruise” on August 20, 2009

Ambassadors Attended the Tokyo Performance of “The Caribbean Musical Cruise” on August 20, 2009: The Republic of Haiti became the one-hundred-and-first country engaging as part of the Min-On’s cultural exchange.

The “Mini All Stars,” representing the Republic of Haiti, enthusiastically performed the lively sounds and passionate rhythms of Haitian music, especially the immensely popular music of “Compas” on fourteen stages in thirteen cities throughout Japan during the months of August and September. They performed the best selections from their enormous repertoire of authentic Compas numbers, written by the father of Compas, Jean-Baptiste Nemours, and popular numbers of modern Haitian music, and satisfied all audiences.

They successfully concluded their Japan tour with a storm of applause from a full house in Sendai City on September 8. With this first Japanese tour by these Haitian artists, the Republic of Haiti became the one-hundred-and-first country that Min-On has engaged as part of its cultural exchange in its forty-six-year history.

During the tour on August 20, the Charge d’Affaires of the Republic of Haiti, Mr. Jean-Claude Bordes, together with ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from eleven countries, attended. With this first Japanese tour by these Haitian artists as a new beginning, Min-On further promotes its “heart-to-heart exchanges” for developing an everlasting friendship between the two countries.
