“The Caribbean Musical Cruise”: The “Mini All Stars” from the Republic of Haiti lively arrived in Japan to perform for the first of this new series.

This summer, the Min-On Concert Association initiated a new concert series titled “The Caribbean Musical Cruise” that introduces a variety of rich musical cultures unique to the Caribbean nations, each with its own ethnic and historical background.

Based on its founder’s idea of “aiming to unite the hearts and minds of people through a cultural exchange for building a peaceful world,” Min-On has continued promoting global exchange of musical culture and is actively engaged in various kinds of concert series such as “A Musical Voyage Along the Silk Road,” “A Musical Voyage Along the Marine Road,” “A Musical Voyage Across Africa,” and “A Journey to the Musical Isles,” etc. “The Caribbean Musical Cruise” adds another brilliant page to the history of its cultural exchange programs.

On August 14, as the first of this new series, the “Mini All Stars,” ten extraordinary musicians and singers from the Caribbean nation of Haiti arrived in Japan, and they begin their Japan tour from August 18 through September 13, 2009, at fourteen concerts in thirteen cities throughout Japan.

On the morning of August 17, before their concert tour began, the entire cast of the “Mini All Stars” visited the Min-On Culture Center. To mark the occasion of their first visit and to kick off the new series of “The Caribbean Musical Cruise,” an enthusiastic welcome and exchange was held with the participation of Min-On’s president, Hiroyasu Kobayashi, and all staff in the Museum Hall. Representing the “Mini All Stars,” its producer, Fred Paul, expressed their deep appreciation for the opportunity of their first Japan tour representing the Republic of Haiti and engaging in cultural exchanges with the people in Japan.
