Launched
in 1970 with a concert by the internationally acclaimed Orquestra
Jose Basso, the Min-On Tango Series deserves a great deal of credit
for establishing tango popularity in Japan — subsequent events
featuring Osvaldo Pugliese, Mariano Mores and other leading tango
artists on highly successful nationwide tours. Min-On also sponsors
jazz, Latin folk music and other concerts which in the past have showcased
performances by talent the like of Brazil's Gal Gosta and Gilberto
Gil and America's Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter. |
