First held in 1969, the Min-On Contemporary Music Festival was originally a part of the Tokyo International Music Competition, but has subsequently taken on a life of its own.
The Festival, which has hosted the premieres of a number of key contemporary Japanese works, has been held in both Tokyo and Osaka since 1982.
